Scotia Street Residents Blast Through Sandbag Supply

Check out an aerial view of this flood risk area!

Residents along the north reach of the Red River continued their efforts to build up sandbag dikes along their threatened banks. Volunteers were seen walking towards Scotia Street from all directions to lend a hand. While there appeared to be no shortage of people willing to help, the supply of sandbags could not at times, keep pace with the need. Media and Salvation Army mobile units set up at the front line of Scotia where sandbagging volunteers signed up for duty.

Scotia Street lines the Red River on the west bank south of Kildonan Park. Many portions of land along this street are located in regions called "Floodway Fringe" areas. To see where these areas are, take a look at this map.

Please remember: Many of the images you will see contain the homes of people who have been uprooted from their families, homes, and livelihoods. They need your help NOW. Please contact your LOCAL RED CROSS and tell them you wish to donate to the FUND FOR MANITOBA FLOOD RELIEF......THANK YOU FOR YOUR CARING SUPPORT!
