Views Within The Crest...
Floodwaters PeakThe crest of the floodwaters has
arrived. Waters are expected to remain dangerously high for a number
of weeks, leaving many residents uncomfortably dependent upon
sandbag dikes to keep their homes dry. With the river levels at such
high levels, residents behind dikes are not the only ones at risk of
property damage caused by the floodwaters. The majority of Winnipeg
homes now sit prone to basement flooding as a result of sewer
systems unable to operate at normal capacities due to the elevated
river levels. Heavy rains are most unwelcome in Winnipeg during this
critical period of flood management.
