South Red River Flood Risk
The Floodway Fringe is the outer, remaining portion of the flood risk area adjoining the floodway. The areas shaded in GREEN along the river are designated as "Floodway Fringe" and are subject to risk of flooding. The areas shaded in ORANGE along the river are considered to be in the main path of the deepest flooding, hence the term "floodway" In this context, the word "FLOODWAY" does not refer to the RED RIVER FLOODWAY (which conveys water around the City of Winnipeg), rather "FLOODWAY" refers to the part of the flood risk area where the waters are deepest and fastest.
